Jennifer Lopez and Viola Davis have each filmed in Atlanta before, and now the two talented ladies are teaming up.
Lopez, who starred in the 2012 ensemble comedy “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” and the Oscar-nominated Davis, who starred in the 2013 thriller “Prisoners” (which is up for an Academy Award), are partnering for “Lila and Eve.”
“Two distraught mothers, whose children were gunned down in a drive-by, team up to avenge their deaths after local authorities fail to take action,” is the plot, per imdb.
The movie has been filming in the downtown Decatur area this week and will shoot in numerous area locations over the next several weeks.
Meanwhile, Samuel L. Jackson and John Cusack are teaming up for a spooky thriller based on a Stephen King novel.
“Cell” will be filming Thursday “at the Norfolk Southern tunnel under the I-85 bridge at the end of Mayson Street,” reads a notice sent to folks in the surrounding area. The work will be taking place inside the tunnel, but traffic in the immediately surrounding areas may be affected, so plan your travels accordingly.
The plot, per imdb: "Jackson will play Tom McCourt, an engineer and former soldier who escapes from Boston along with Cusack's character, Clay Riddell, after a mysterious pulse, transmitted by cellphones, spreads like a virus through the human population."
In other filming news, the Lifetime series "Devious Maids" has been filming on Valley Road in Buckhead lately, and the show's executive producer/director Eva Longoria and star Roselyn Sanchez brunched at Parish over the weekend.
Longoria is directing for the first time with the show's second season and will likely pop up in front of the camera as well, promised her co-EP Marc Cherry, her colleague from her "Desperate Housewives" days.
“Eva Longoria will not just be buried in a cameo,” he told the Hollywood Reporter.
