FRIDAY
Power 96.1 Jingle Ball
While not nearly as wow-inducing as past years or as impressive as the lineups in other major markets (Meghan Trainor, Charli XCX, Five Seconds of Summer and Pharrell seem to be mainstays in most cities), this year’s event, downsized from Philips Arena to Gwinnett Arena, will spotlight Top 40 presences Calvin Harris, Fall Out Boy and Jessie J. Atlanta rapper T.I. is, somewhat oddly, also part of the lineup, as well as “Birthday Sex” R&B star Jeremih.
7:30 p.m. Dec. 19. $45-$85. Gwinnett Arena, 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway, Duluth. 1-888-929-7849, gwinnettcenter.com.
Joy, an Irish Christmas
Keith and Kristyn Getty, Irish modern hymn writers and musicians, have enlisted bluegrass virtuoso Ricky Skaggs to join them and their band of instrumentalists and choir members. The concert will blend traditional carols, modern hymns and Irish folk music in a reverent “celebration of the birth of Christ.”
7 p.m. Dec. 19. $20-$55. Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, 2800 Cobb Galleria Parkway, Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000, ticketmaster.com.
Jeffrey Butzer and T.T. Mahony
An Atlanta tradition, Butzer and Mahony perform a jazzy take on Vince Guaraldi’s “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” Butzer also will open the show with his regular band, the Bicycle Eaters. The other openers for the night, Small-Wreath Actions, will play a set of garage rock holiday tunes.
9:30 p.m. Dec. 19-20. $12. The Earl, 488 Flat Shoals Ave. S.E., Atlanta. 1-877-725-8849, ticketalternative.com.
SATURDAY
John Berry
The country crooner behind a string of hits in the ’90s — “Your Love Amazes Me,” “Standing on the Edge of Goodbye” — has been hitting the road for Christmas tours since 1996. For this 18th annual run, Berry, born in South Carolina but raised in Atlanta, will begin the show with uptempo, secular holiday songs and then move to religious selections. Longtime Berry fans also remember his early days playing clubs and bars in Athens after Georgia Bulldogs games and building an early following among University of Georgia students.
7:30 p.m. Dec. 20. $30-$35 in advance; prices increase $5 after 5 p.m. the day of the show. Mill Town Music Hall, 1031 Alabama Ave., Bremen. 1-877-725-8849, ticketalternative.com.
Justin Timberlake
At his sold-out Philips Arena appearance last December, Timberlake presented a marathon show that stretched nearly three hours and covered more than 30 songs. What is truly exceptional about his 20/20 Experience, which comes to Duluth for an encore performance, is the stage design, which looks like a mash-up of Roger Waters’ set from “The Wall” tour and the slick brightness of a One Direction set. Look for Timberlake to keep his feet moving, too, as he bounces through such songs as “Rock Your Body,” “SexyBack” and “Cry Me a River.”
8 p.m. Dec. 20. $48-$178. Gwinnett Arena, 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway, Duluth. 1-888-929-7849, gwinnettcenter.com.
