FRIDAY
Hank Williams Jr. and Gregg Allman
Allman said in a recent interview that he and Hank Jr. “have been buds a long, long time.” That said, they’re playing separate sets. Allman also said the plan is to do “a little of all of my solo catalog.” There will be Allman Brothers songs, too, but Allman said he likes to rearrange them to suit his solo band. If you miss him with Hank Jr., he’ll be back at Verizon with the Brothers Sept. 2.
8 p.m. June 21. $19.50-$99.50. Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park, 2200 Encore Parkway, Alpharetta. 1-800-745-3000.
One Direction
Squeal. Really, what is there to say about the dreamy British boy band that has proved to have admirable staying power? (Tickets for this show went on sale a year ago, shortly after they played Gwinnett Arena.) The guys caused a bit of a kerfuffle among their U.K. fans when it was discovered that their U.S. shows would contain more songs than their British gigs. Oh, the nerve! Expect to hear “What Makes You Beautiful,” “Live While We’re Young” and other 1D hits that will keep the girls bopping.
7:30 p.m. June 21. Sold out. Philips Arena, 1 Philips Drive, Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000.
The Rascals
In April, the four original Rascals — purveyors of ’60s and ’70s hits such as “It’s a Beautiful Mornin’,” “Groovin’” and “Good Lovin’” — sold out a 15-night run on Broadway. They also performed live at the Tony Awards, with an introduction from their biggest fan, who directed the show — Steven Van Zandt. Now the “Once Upon a Dream” outing comes to Atlanta for a two-night stint, complete with Felix Cavaliere, Eddie Brigati, Dino Danelli and Gene Cornish under the spotlights. A film created by Van Zandt and Marc Brickman is shown during the concert, making the night part documentary experience, part retrospective.
8 p.m. $29.50-$185. June 21-22. Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, 2800 Cobb Galleria Parkway, Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000.
SUNDAY
Brad Paisley
With Chris Young and the Henningsens. Underrated guitarist Paisley is touring behind his heartfelt, pure “Wheelhouse” album. Let’s hope he rips out some solos, too. Paisley found himself having to defend his “Accidental Racist” collaboration with LL Cool J, and the song doesn’t appear on any recent set lists. But Van Halen’s “Hot for Teacher” does — and we’ll gladly take that as a substitute.
7 p.m. June 23. $30.25-$59.50. Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood, 2002 Lakewood Way, Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000.
THURSDAY
Pitbull and Kesha
Mr. Worldwide and Ms. Hot Mess undoubtedly will instigate a few parties with their fizzy Top 40 fare. Kesha’s set reportedly is stuffed with naughty costumes, drag queens and includes the now-requisite practice of “making it rain” with fake money. Pitbull, meanwhile, brings a lot of mash-ups to his set (“Sweet Child O’ Mine” with “Rain Over Me” sounds like a cool pairing) as well as his ever-growing hit list.
7 p.m. June 27. $29.25-$123.75. Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood, 2002 Lakewood Way, Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000.
