FRIDAY

Huey Lewis & the News

On Sept. 15, “Sports” will turn 30. Yep, we feel old, too. But three decades later, Lewis and boys’ hearts of rock ’n’ roll are still beating and the band — Lewis, fellow originals Sean Hopper, Bill Gibson and Johnny Colla and a coterie of other talented folks — will run through “Sports” and the rest of the band’s multitude of hits (“Heart and Soul,” “I Want a New Drug,” “If This is It”) as well as other best-of soft rockers such as “The Power of Love” and “Trouble in Paradise.”

8 p.m. Aug. 23. $45-$100. Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater, 201 McIntosh Trail, Peachtree City. 877-725-8849.

John Hiatt & the Combo

With Native Run. Last year, Hiatt, an American folk-rock hero, released his 21st studio album, “Mystic Pinball.” He’s never been the guy you’re going to hear on the radio (unless we’re talking about SiriusXM), but Hiatt remains one of music’s most respected songwriters. Songs such as “Have a Little Faith in Me,” “Angel Eyes,” “Feels Like Rain” and “Memphis in the Meantime” are among his most covered — and no one can deny how Bonnie Raitt turned “Thing Called Love” into something super special.

8:30 p.m. Aug. 23. $32.50 (advance), $35 (at door). Variety Playhouse, 1099 Euclid Ave. N.E., Atlanta. 404-524-7354.

SATURDAY

Great White

Some know them more for the tragic Rhode Island nightclub fire in 2003 that killed 100 people (including the band’s guitarist Ty Longley), but ’80s hair metal fans will recall rolling down the windows to shout along to “Once Bitten, Twice Shy,” “Rock Me” and “Mistabone.” In 2011, singer Jack Russell formed his own version of Great White and is not part of this show. Instead, head-bangers can rock to the sounds of founding member-guitarist Mark Kendall, ’80s-era members Michael Lardie and Audie Desbrow, and relative newcomers Scott Snyder and singer Terry Ilous.

9:30 p.m. Aug. 24. $20-$60. Wild Bill’s, 2075 Market St., Duluth. 1-800-745-3000.

WEDNESDAY

Bubba Sparxxx

With EDUBB. It’s been 13 years since the Georgia native made a splash on radio and the Billboard charts with the hick-hop anthem “Ugly” (with a little help from Timbaland). A 2005 collaboration with the Ying Yang Twins (“Ms. New Booty”) returned Sparxxx — born Warren Anderson Mathis in LaGrange — to the public eye, but it’s been a quiet few years. In January, he released a video for the song “Splinter” and reportedly has a new album ready to drop.

9 p.m. Aug. 28. $10. Aug. 28. Smith’s Olde Bar, 1578 Piedmont Ave. N.E., Atlanta. 1-877-725-8849.

THURSDAY

Blake Shelton

With Easton Corbin and Jana Kramer. No doubt all of the judges on “The Voice” received a career boost when the singing competition became a smash. But Shelton, already a bona fide country hunk with a string of Top 5 albums since his career launch in 2001, now is in a new stratosphere of fame. It’s no wonder he’s dubbed this the Ten Times Crazier tour. He’s no longer just the guy your older brother has worshipped for years. Now your mom is in love with him, too.

7:30 p.m. Aug. 29. $25-$54.75. Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood, 2002 Lakewood Way, Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000.
