FRIDAY
Joe Nichols
Wild Bill’s celebrates its 10th anniversary with a two-night affair starring Nichols on Friday and the Georgia-bred namesake of the venue, Bill Gentry, on Saturday. It’s been a fruitful decade since Gentry took the risk of mortgaging his house and finding investors to turn a former Service Merchandise building into a thriving country-rock venue. In addition to the live music rattling the roof inside, tailgating will take place starting at 6 p.m. at the Backyard Country Tailgate Stage outside the club.
With Craig Campbell, Charlie Worsham and Chris Janson on Friday. 8 p.m. Nov. 8. $15 (advance) and $25 (at the door). With Maggie Rose, Eric Paslay and Alex Hall on Saturday. 8 p.m. Nov. 9. $10 (advance) and $20 (at the door). Wild Bill’s, 2075 Market St., Duluth. 1-800-745-3000.
Michael Franti & Spearhead
The California hip hop-reggae-dance hall star and social activist has been taking audiences on a peaceful musical journey for more than two decades. Franti and his band, Spearhead, posted a radio hit in 2010 with the breezy “The Sound of Sunshine” and this summer released their eighth album, “I’m Alive.”
With Serena Ryder. 8 p.m. Nov. 8. $25. The Tabernacle, 152 Luckie St., Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000.
SUNDAY
Lisa Marie Presley
She’s more than just a legendary name. Presley’s first album, the bluesy-rocking “To Whom It May Concern” in 2003, landed her a Top 20 hit with “Lights Out.” She returned last year with the mature and moody “Storm & Grace,” produced by T Bone Burnett. A recent Hollywood Reporter review of her show in New York City praised her husky voice as well as her “endearing warmth and vulnerability.”
7 and 9:15 p.m. Nov. 10. Both shows sold out. Free live stream on the patio. Eddie’s Attic, 515-B N. McDonough St., Decatur. 1-877-725-8849.
Cheryl Wheeler
Her live shows are renowned for their combination of engaging folk music and Wheeler’s well-honed storytelling. With 25-plus years of traveling and songwriting on her resume, you’re assured plenty of both. Wheeler is also lauded for her diverse catalog, having written songs for Garth Brooks, Bette Midler, Kenny Loggins and Dan Seals.
With Dave McGraw and Mandy Fer. 7 p.m. Nov. 10. $23-$27 (advance) and $25-$29 (at the door). Red Clay Theatre, 3116 Main St., Duluth. 404-478-2749.
TUESDAY
Ed Kowalczyk
The former Live frontman left the ’90s hitmakers in 2009 and since has released a trio of solo albums, most recently last week’s “The Flood and the Mercy.” While, of course, the point of a stripped-down appearance at Eddie’s is to promote his new material, Kowalczyk isn’t ignoring his past: Live favorites “Selling the Drama,” “All Over You” and “I Alone” make regular appearances in his set lists.
With Callaghan. 8 p.m. Nov. 12. Sold out. Free live stream on the patio. Eddie’s Attic, 515-B N. McDonough St., Decatur. 1-877-725-8849.
WEDNESDAY
Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue
Take a little jazz, a little funk, a little rap, add in a trombone and you get a good sense of what this N’awlins prodigy (he picked up his namesake instrument at age 6) is all about. Born Troy Andrews, the horn player (he also blows the trumpet) is a regular presence at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and has recorded with Eric Clapton, Lenny Kravitz and the esteemed Dr. John.
8 p.m. Nov. 13. $31-$36 (advance) and $34-$39 (at the door). Buckhead Theatre, 3110 Roswell Road, Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000.
