FRIDAY

The Black Lips

The Atlanta rockers are known for their provocative live performances and last fall spent two months bringing their memorable show to the Middle East. Much of the tour was filmed by Bill Cody for the movie “Kids Like You and Me.” The Lips’ new record, “Underneath the Rainbow,” due March 18, was recorded in New York and Nashville, where the band worked with the Black Keys’ Patrick Carney.

Audra McDonald with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra

The Broadway legend — recently seen on the live TV version of “The Sound of Music” — is this year’s star of the annual ASO fundraiser to benefit education and community engagement programs. In a recent interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, McDonald tagged “When Did I Fall in Love” from “Fiorello” and “Stars and the Moon” as two of her favorites to perform. “You will always hear those in my concerts,” she said. McDonald also just announced that she will return to Broadway as Billie Holiday in Lanie Robertson’s “Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill.”

The pop-art singer born Annie Erin Clark — known for her work with the Polyphonic Spree, Sufjan Stevens and, most recently, touring with David Byrne — plays guitar, bass, piano and organ. She’s been known as St. Vincent since 2006, and last week released her self-titled fourth studio album. Clark wrote all of the songs on the album, which includes a guest shot from Sharon Jones.
