FRIDAY
Boz Scaggs
This year, Scaggs leaves Dukes of September comrades Donald Fagen and Michael McDonald behind to support his new partial-covers album, “Memphis.” At recent shows he’s brought back crowd favorites “Lido Shuffle” and “Lowdown,” but also turned in a healthy dose of tunes from the new record — as well as an interesting cover of Sly and the Family Stone’s “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin).”
8 p.m. July 19. $51.50. Atlanta Botanical Garden, 345 Piedmont Ave. N.E. Atlanta. 1-877-725-8849.
Robert Plant presents the Sensational Shape Shifters
With Bombino. This is the first North American outing for Plant and his Shape Shifters, many of whom played with him in his mid-2000s band, Strange Sensation. Recent set lists indicate that Led Zeppelin's musically historic catalog will receive plenty of attention, with staples such as "Black Dog," "Rock and Roll" and "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You" making the cut. Plant recently told the AJC that he looks forward to the "unrehearsed" moments onstage.
7:30 p.m. July 19. $39.50-$79.50. Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park, 2200 Encore Parkway, Alpharetta. 1-800-745-3000.
SATURDAY
Living Colour
It’s another anniversary tour to make children of the ’80s feel ancient. The New York punk-funk rockers will perform their memorable album “Vivid” in its entirety to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the heralded debut. “Cult of Personality” won the band a Grammy in 1990 in the best hard rock performance category, but the Corey Glover-led outfit imploded a few years later, only to reunite in 2000.
8:30 p.m. July 19. $22.50 in advance, $25 day of show. Variety Playhouse, 1099 Euclid Ave. N.E., Atlanta. 404-524-7354.
The Black Crowes and Tedeschi Trucks Band
With the London Souls. After a triumphant return at their sold-out Tabernacle gig this spring, the blues-rocking Crowes are heading outside with their pals in TTB. Although Chris Robinson has made his home in L.A. for more than 20 years, he said in a recent Atlanta Journal-Constitution interview that Atlanta will “always be the fertile ground which hatched our seed.” The Alpharetta show is the second date of a monthlong tour.
6:30 p.m. July 20. $35.50-$89.50. Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park, 2200 Encore Parkway, Alpharetta. 1-800-745-3000.
Mindless Behavior
These R&B-pop teens (“Mrs. Right,” “My Girl”) should set up a residency at the Fox, considering how frequently they sell it out. The group was assembled in L.A. in 2008 and spent two years honing its song-and-dance skills before bursting onto the pop scene, causing tens of thousands of female tweens and teens to scream themselves hoarse at its high-energy shows.
7 p.m. July 20. $36.50-$46.50. Fox Theatre, 660 Peachtree St. N.E., Atlanta. 1-855-285-8499.
SUNDAY
New Order
With Holy Ghost! The British synthesizer-pop maestros behind such New Wave classics as “Blue Monday” and “Bizarre Love Triangle” returned to the U.S. last year for their first tour since 2005. Recent shows overseas have included those fizzy dance hits of the ’80s, as well as an encore of Joy Division songs (for those who lost track, New Order was formed in 1980 after the death of Joy Division vocalist Ian Curtis).
7:30 p.m. July 21. $35-$55. Nontable setup, no coolers or carry-ins. Chastain Park Amphitheatre, 4469 Stella Drive N.W., Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000.
YES
The seminal prog-rockers — Chris Squire, Steve Howe, Alan White, Geoff Downes and current singer Jon Davison — will indulge longtime fans by performing three of their classic albums in their entirety. Get ready to hoist the lighters for the music of “Close to the Edge” (1972), “Going for the One” (1977) and “The Yes Album” (1971).
7:30 p.m. July 21. $45-$125.50. Symphony Hall, 1280 Peachtree St. N.E., Atlanta. 404-733-5000.
TUESDAY
The Psychedelic Furs
With the Technicolors. The Richard Butler-led Furs have been a frequent presence in Atlanta — they played the Variety in October and the Masquerade in July 2011. And that’s just fine with fans of the British alt-punk-New Wave group, who can revel repeatedly in the polished sounds of “Love My Way,” “Heartbreak Beat” and, of course, “Pretty in Pink,” which all get just a little bit dirtied up thanks to Butler’s emotive vocals.
8 p.m. July 23. $26.50 in advance, $30 day of show. Variety Playhouse, 1099 Euclid Ave. N.E., Atlanta. 404-524-7354.
