We’re officially four months into 2017. Now that spring is in full bloom, the city is bustling with things to do.
Whether you’re looking to see a musical or searching for ways to keep your kids entertained during spring break, we have a few suggestions for you.
’Hedwig and the Angry Inch’
This Tony Award-winning musical tells the story of German singer Hedwig Robinson, a gender-bending rock ‘n’ roll singer on a quest for identity and true love. Before the musical opened off-Broadway nearly two decades ago, John Cameron Mitchell (writer), performing as Hedwig, and Stephen Trask (composer) tested their material out at popular NYC drag club Squeezebox. After it opened on Broadway in 2014, it won a Tony for best revival of a musical.
7:30 p.m. April 4-5. $45-$125. Fox Theatre, 660 Peachtree St., Atlanta. 404-881-2100, foxtheatre.org.

Dad's Garage Theatre Company's Mark Kendall will put on this one-man production on the Hertz Stage at the Alliance Theatre. "Dissecting common themes in representations of the African-American experience, Mark makes us laugh and ask ourselves why we are laughing. From race cards to white flight, Aunt Jemima, and even Black Jesus—you will laugh until you cry and cry until you laugh," a description of the show reads.
Times vary. Through April 15. $15-$25. Alliance Theatre, 1280 Peachtree St., Atlanta. Alliancetheatre.org.
“Cinderella and Fella”
After creating Troubadour, Atlanta playwright Janece Shaffer is tackling “Cinderella.” This family-friendly production puts a fun twist on the classic fairytale, adding an emphasis on friendship over romance and throwing a few lightning bugs and singing cicadas into the mix.
