DOWNTOWN
The Capitol Steps at the Rialto Center for the Arts
Think Weird Al goes to Washington. Many members of this politically charged musical comedy troupe draw from personal experience. Together they’ve worked in 18 congressional offices and represent 62 years of collective House and Senate service. Expect the Steps to deliver spot-on impersonations of politicians and pull from some of their more recent albums, including “Obama Mia!” “Liberal Shop of Horrors” and “Take the Money and Run for President.” The songs, based on popular tunes from throughout the years, get a political overhaul, and no one is safe from their parodies. Bob Seger’s “Old Time Rock and Roll” becomes “Old Time McCain and Dole.” Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder’s “Ebony and Ivory” transforms into “Ebony and Ovaries,” with members of the Steps playing the roles of President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton. Both the left and right are fair game as the 26 members and five pianists encourage the crowd to laugh and sing along. Guests score free parking for all Rialto Series events.
8 p.m. Oct. 20. $42-$76.44. Rialto Center for the Arts at Georgia State University, 80 Forsyth St. N.W., Atlanta 404-413-9849, www.rialtocenter.org.
LAWRENCEVILLE
“The Juggler Bieber Show” at Aurora Theatre
Aurora amps up its Children’s Playhouse series just in time for the Halloween season. Former Army pilot and high school teacher Ron Anglin performs under the banner Quite a Catch. This juggler and stunt performer rolls comedy and education together into one big ball. He uses juggling, plate spinning, unicycle riding and other acts to share topics including science, geography and reading. He’ll be doing all of this and more with his latest production, titled “The Juggler Bieber Show.” Is it a nod to the pop superstar, or is Anglin wishing his cul-de-sac hairline was a Bieber-style mop top? See for yourself. Magician Arthur Atsma brings his Halloween Magic Show to Aurora on Oct. 27.
10 a.m. Oct. 20. $7. Aurora Theatre. Free parking at 153 Crogan St., Lawrenceville. 678-226-6222, www.auroratheatre.com.
