Simon Kidgits Club Fall Festival at Mall of Georgia
Kids are invited to don their Halloween best for the Simon Kidgits Club Fall Festival at the Mall of Georgia. Young ones will converge upon the Village area at the mall for a special costume contest with prizes at 2 p.m. The contest will be divided into three age groups: infants to age 4, ages 5 to 8, and ages 9 to 12. Tots also can blow off steam in inflatable bounce houses. Or they can check out performances by the APA Superstars, a dance troupe based at the Academy of Performing Arts in Gainesville. The Gwinnett Ballet will be there to meet with fans and Radio Disney will be on site for music and games.

Don and Diane Wells at Yawn’s Books & More
Don and Diane Wells, authors of “Mystery of the Trees: Native American Markers of a Cultural Way of Life that Soon May be Gone,” will sign copies of their book and talk trees at this special event. The book focuses on Indian trail trees, and includes stories about artifacts and sacred sites the authors found in and around Cherokee County. In addition to signing copies of the book, they will be making a 40-minute presentation about trees in the area.

Friday Night Magic at Galactic Quest
Fans of Magic: the Gathering, the enduring fantasy trading card game, can get their fix Friday nights at Galactic Quest comic book shop. Players get together for standard-format play at this open game night event. Participants are asked to bring a standard deck. Organizers are expecting quite a boost in attendance this week, because it’s hot on the heels of the release of the new set, Return to Ravnica. Those who get game-play munchies are in luck. Galactic Quest has sodas, chips and candy bars for sale. Sign-up begins at 6 p.m. Although it’s officially scheduled to wrap at 10 p.m., some events last as late as 11 p.m.
