Wine tasting team trivia
Put your brain and your taste buds to the test with a wine trivia game at the Gifted Ferret, a gourmet boutique in Woodstock. The game has three rounds of six vino-vexing questions, but you don’t have to be an oenophile to score points. At least three questions in each round will be on general wine knowledge, with four possible answers. Other questions will focus on the four wines tasted during the game. Teams of two or more are encouraged to come up with a cool name and register in advance on the store’s website.

On the Light Side concert
Hear the softer side of grand operatic voices as the Capital City Opera Company presents its 23rd annual On the Light Side fundraiser. The concert features music from American composer Cole Porter’s songbook, including “Too Darn Hot,” “I Get a Kick Out of You” and “I’ve Got You Under My Skin.” Along with music, the evening features an indoor picnic, a silent auction and door prizes for attendees. All proceeds benefit the opera company, which prepares singers for professional roles and helps local talents establish their careers.

Pins for Paws
Cats and dogs will set aside their differences for one afternoon, so lace up your bowling shoes, stretch your wrist, and join in the fifth annual Pins for Paws fundraiser. Animal rescue organizations Good Mews and Mostly Mutts are teaming up to raise money to support their shelters for cats and dogs in need of homes. For $20, you’ll get two hours of bowling and a raffle ticket for door prizes. Additional raffle tickets are available by donating cat litter, paper towels, bleach and other items that can be used in the shelters (see the Good Mews website for a complete list). Tickets are available on the same site.
