Wild Bill’s Fight Night at Wild Bill’s Atlanta

They’ll be coming out swinging and kicking at the 49th installment of this combat sports series. Both mixed martial arts and traditional boxing share the card. Atlanta fighter Clay Harvison and South Carolina’s Ronnie “Bam Bam” Rogers face off in the main event. This marks Harvison’s return to the Atlanta fight scene after a trio of UFC bouts and his appearance on “The Ultimate Fighter” TV series. In other mixed martial arts action, Alan Gigolaev takes on Marques Jackson for Gigolaev’s Georgia Fighters Championship title. Female Muay Thai fighters Mary Matia and Andrea Lofgren go at it. Alex Matos and Nicholas Smith duke it out in the boxing ring. These are just a few of more than a dozen bouts that may cause “Eye of the Tiger” to get stuck in your head.

Buzz Bernard at Peerless Book Store

Bernard, a former senior meteorologist on the Weather Channel, is riding the wave of a second career as a novelist. His debut book, “Eyewall,” tells the tale of a hurricane smashing into St. Simons Island, Ga. The Atlanta-based author’s follow-up novel takes another bite out of the Peach State. With “Plague,” Bernard spins a yarn about a microbiologist-turned-terrorist set on releasing a weaponized version of the Ebola virus upon Atlanta. This event is sponsored by the Atlanta Writers Club and serves as the book’s official launch party. Bernard will be on hand to chat about the book and sign copies. It all takes place at Peerless Book Store, a laid-back indie retailer featuring an array of shelves tucked with tomes.

‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ at Young Actors Playhouse

A gaggle of seasoned actors and actresses present Harper Lee’s iconic novel onstage. The familiar story finds a pair of youngsters receiving a jolt of the real world when their lawyer dad is given the task of defending a black man falsely accused of raping a white woman. Themes of justice, racism, tolerance and more intertwine in this dramatic retelling, which features a light touch of humor. Barbara J. Rudy directs a cast including Julia Rudy, Jen Lesenyik, Dave Boggess, Kevin Tillery, Brad Rudy and a host of others.
