“Monty Python and the Holy Grail” at Earl Smith Strand Theatre

Despite copious repeat viewings, some simply can’t get their fill of King Arthur, man-eating rabbits and a limb-losing knight. Nearly 40 years after co-directors Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones and the rest of the Pythons slapped their comedic sensibilities on celluloid, the film’s cult status remains. See where Broadway’s “Spamalot” sprang from, and don’t forget to arrive early. A pre-show concert and sing-along starring the Strand’s Mighty Allen theater organ begins at 7:30 p.m.

8 p.m. March 29. $8; $7 for students, military and seniors. Earl Smith Strand Theatre, 117 N. Park Square, Marietta. 770-293-0080, www.earlsmithstrand.org.

HAPEVILLE

“Pathways: 7 Black Women Who Changed America” at Hapeville Performing Arts Center

Call it a one-woman history lesson. Academy Theatre’s Hapeville location gives actress Brenda Porter the opportunity to juggle roles, transforming into seven different historical black women in the show. She’ll take on the persona of abolitionist Harriet Tubman one moment and the next she’s Barbara Jordan, the first Southern African-American woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. Ida B. Wells, Bessie Coleman, Wilma Rudolph and others come to life, too. The family-friendly play may be the right combination of entertainment and history that parents can use to lure kids.

8 p.m. March 29; 2:30 p.m. March 30. $11.34 online; $15 at the door. Hapeville Performing Arts Center, 599 N. Central Ave., Hapeville. 404-474-8332, www.academytheatre.org, www.brownpapertickets.com.
