MORROW
Alex Benford at Spivey Hall at Clayton State University
Acclaimed local organist Alex Benford steps behind Spivey Hall’s majestic instrument for a free concert. Titled “Shall We Dance,” it consists of dance-inspired music. Don’t expect disco classics or the latest from Nicki Minaj. Benford goes after organ-friendly dance pieces penned by J.S. Bach, Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, William Albright and Jehan Alain. The show is designed for ages 12 and older, so Spivey Hall asks guests to keep the younger ones at home.
7:30 p.m. Sept. 21. Free. Spivey Hall at Clayton State University, 2000 Clayton State Blvd., Morrow. 678-466-4200, www.spiveyhall.org.
KENNESAW
‘Run Away With Me: Kerrigan & Lowdermilk in Concert’ at Kennesaw State University
Forget the sprawling cast. This time, musical theater collaborators Brian Lowdermilk and Kait Kerrigan bring their compositions to the stage themselves. Lowdermilk, who provides the music, and Kerrigan, who writes the lyrics, are the ones behind contemporary musicals including “The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown” and “The Woman Upstairs.” The young duo released their first CD, “Our First Mistake,” in 2011. Expect a host of tracks culled from their career.
8 p.m. Sept. 21-22. $20; $15 alumni; $12 students. Stillwell Theater at Kennesaw State University, 1000 Chastain Road, Kennesaw. 770-423-6650, www.kennesaw.edu/arts/boxoffice.
