Motion and Light: The Works of Italian Artist Pietro Piccoli

No need to book a flight or update your passport to experience the Mediterranean. A breeze from that region is blowing in via a collection of artworks by Italian painter Pietro Piccoli, who is bringing his creations to the R. Alexander gallery. The exhibition features Piccoli’s landscapes and seascapes of coastal Italy, blended with his own version of abstraction. The gallery will hold two opening receptions that the artist will attend. Tickets are free but must be reserved through the gallery’s website. The exhibition runs through Feb. 28.

James Gregory

James Gregory is billed as “the funniest man in America” and “America’s clean comedian.” You can find out whether he lives up to those titles when he brings his two decades worth of comedy experience to Newnan’s Charles Wadsworth Auditorium. A former salesman and government employee, Gregory, known for his rural Georgia accent and casual attire, now offers his comedic brand of Southern common sense. He bounces through a range of topics, such as gym memberships, animal rights and air travel. Tickets can be purchased through his website.

“Tarzan — the Stage Musical”

Come see some of the region’s future musical theater stars as the high school students of the Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts sing and dance their way through “Tarzan – the Stage Musical.” Based on the Disney animated movie and featuring songs by Phil Collins, the Broadway musical follows the story of Tarzan, the boy raised by gorillas who falls in love with a young English woman.
