DORAVILLE
American Short Stories Discussion Group at Doraville Library
Those who love the printed word can gather and chat all about it at this interactive group, which takes place each month. The January selection is Jack London’s “To Build a Fire.” The most well-known version of the tale was published in 1908. Many consider this short story a good example of the naturalistic movement. The man-against-nature angle was reportedly inspired by London’s own experience in the Yukon Territory. No registration is required. Copies of the story are available at the library’s circulation desk.
10:30-11:30 a.m. Jan. 12. Free. Doraville Library, 3748 Central Ave., Doraville. 770-936-3852, www.dekalblibrary.org/branches/doraville.html.
