Victory in Decatur
Victory Sandwich Bar and Emporium near Decatur Square tried an under-the-radar "soft opening" last week. But that didn't keep crowds from showing up from Day One to check out the second outpost of the popular Inman Park place known for bargain-priced sandwiches, canned beer and spiked slushies. Roswell Mill
Chef Marc Taft of Marietta's Chicken and the Egg and brothers Scott and Randy McCray of McCray's Tavern teamed up to launch the Mill Kitchen and Bar in Roswell. The "Southern neighborhood restaurant," which opened for dinner this week, will open for lunch Feb. 25 and brunch March 3. Marietta seafood spot
Pier 213 Seafood opened last week near Marietta Square. The fast casual lunch and dinner spot offers a variety of fresh Gulf seafood sandwiches and steamed or fried plates, plus burgers, chicken, homemade desserts, including Key lime pie, and beer and wine. Brother-and-sister owners, Kevin and Kammie Sakprasit, have ties to both the Marietta area and the fishing communities in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi. 35 S. Annual oyster roast
Next month, Atlanta's self-proclaimed "Angry Chef," Ron Eyester, will preside over Rosebud's fourth annual oyster roast in Morningside. All-you-can-eat oysters, oyster stew, two drink tickets for American Spirit Whiskey cocktails, unlimited beer, and live music are all part of the deal.
