Shake Shack to open in Buckhead
Confirming a recent swirl of rumors, the cult burger, hot dog and frozen custard stand that first opened in New York City's Madison Square Park in 2004 is set to open its first location in Georgia a decade later. This is according to the company press release: "We're feeling peachy! Renowned NYC restaurateur, Danny Meyer, and Union Square Hospitality Group are proud to announce a new Shake Shack location will open in mid-2014 in Atlanta, Georgia. The Shack will be located at 3035 Peachtree Road in Buckhead Atlanta — the luxury retail, residential and office development currently under construction in the heart of Atlanta's Buckhead neighborhood." www.shakeshack.com.
Food Network Kitchen at Hartsfield-Jackson
In December 2012, USA Today reported that the Food Network and Delaware North Cos. planned to open a location of the Food Network Kitchen at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport by the end of 2013. Last week, Eater Atlanta reported that the location will be Concourse D. The TV channel opened its first Food Network Kitchen at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in the JetBlue terminal. The menu features made-to-order breakfast and entree offerings, such as a bagel and lox combo, Signature Cuban and Lauderdale Club, plus grab-and-go options, such as yogurt parfait and turkey pinwheels with hummus. www.foodnetworkeats.com/airport.php.
Brunswick’s now open in Norcross
Brunswick's, a new upscale bowling and entertainment center, recently opened in its second metro location in Norcross at Peachtree Corners. Like the first Brunswick's in Marietta, it features Tavern '45, a sports bar-style restaurant concept with small plates, burgers, cocktails and local craft beers. Taco Mac Decatur closed for renovations
On Aug. 4, Taco Mac in Decatur closed for renovations and is expected to reopen in October. "After 12 years, it's time to refresh this Taco Mac," Taco Mac CEO Bob Campbell said in a press release. The refresh and redo will be the job of Atlanta's ai3 Inc., the company behind the design of fine dining spots such as Miller Union, 4th & Swift, Holeman & Finch and Lure. Planned renovations include a new patio along Ponce de Leon Avenue, an expanded bar area with 100 draft taps, new, more comfortable seating and upgraded LED HDTVs throughout the restaurant and bar. www.tacomac.com.
