East Atlanta eatery will not reopen
A month after owners Calavino Donati and Doria Roberts announced the indefinite closing of Urban Cannibals Bodega + Bites in East Atlanta Village comes word that cafe/store will not reopen. In its place, Donati and Roberts are readying three new concepts for opening this summer: Urban Cannibals Midtown is in the former Las Palmeras space on Fifth Street; Tipple and Rose Tea Parlor + Apothecary is a tea shop in Virginia-Highland; Madre + Mason is a Latin-Southern restaurant in the former Couscous space near Piedmont Park. facebook.com/urbancannibals.
10 Degrees and Marlow’s partner
On June 23, South African destination 10 Degrees South and neighborhood spots Marlow's Tavern debuted the "Midsummer Cocktail Party," a six-week-long partnership and promotion. Running through Aug. 3, Marlow's will present drinks, craft beers and South African wines with a menu of South African dishes created by 10 Degrees South. Look for peri-peri firecracker eggs with house-made pimento cheese, the "Gatsby," a toasted Cuban roll stuffed with grilled filet mignon and loaded with condiments, and traditional malva pudding cake. marlowstavern.com.
