Drift opens in east Cobb
Drift Fish House & Oyster Bar, the highly anticipated new restaurant from chef Doug Turbush, the restaurateur behind Marietta hot spots Seed Kitchen & Bar and Stem Wine Bar, opened on Feb. 28 at The Avenue East Cobb. The menu from Turbush and executive chef Brendan Keenan mixes oysters and raw bar classics with shareable plates and entrees such as Portuguese fish stew and Carolina trout with banh mi flavors. Morningside Kitchen opening
Back in November 2015, Tom Murphy and the team behind Murphy's in Virginia-Highland and Paces & Vine in Vinings expanded its restaurant group with the acquisition of the former Rosebud space in Morningside. Now comes news of the name and the opening date of the new concept, with Morningside Kitchen officially set to open on North Highland Avenue in the Morningside Shopping Centre in early April, serving dinner nightly and weekend brunch. 1397 N. 101 Steak coming to Vinings
101 Steak, the newest restaurant from 101 Concepts (Cibo e Beve, Food 101, Meehan's Public House, Smoke Ring), is working toward a late spring 2016 opening in the former Social Vinings space at 3621 Vinings Slope S.E. in Vinings. The chef-driven steakhouse with a menu by executive chef/partner Joey Ahn will serve "affordable, high-quality steaks and seafood in addition to a raw bar and extensive by-the-glass wine list." 101concepts.net.
Smoke & Glory 2016
On April 3, Smoke & Glory will return to Steinbeck's Ale House in Oakhurst for a no-holds-barred smoked brisket cook-off with proceeds to benefit the Giving Kitchen and the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.
