New Pie Shop and Safro’s
Pie Shop, famous for its motto "Pie Is Love" and pie "happy hour" sampling events, recently opened a second Atlanta location next to Moe's and Joe's in Virginia-Highland. Owner Mims Bledsoe debuted her first Pie Shop in Buckhead in 2011, offering a rotating selection of some 100 different pie flavors, available whole or by the slice, along with savory pot pies, fried pies and other treats. The Mercury at PCM
Brooks Cloud, Julian Goglia and Mike Blydenstein, the team behind the Pinewood in Decatur and Proof Old Fashioned Cocktail Syrup, have announced the opening of the Mercury at Ponce City Market in late 2015. Cloud, Goglia and Blydenstein are posting a Kickstarter campaign for supporters to "donate directly to the restaurant's development." Billed as "a cocktail-focused, classic American eatery inspired by the culture of the 1960s," the Mercury will offer "updated takes on midcentury American cuisine and classic cocktails." www.kickstarter.com/projects/1720469594/the-mercury.
OFW Farmers Market
Intown Atlanta has yet another Saturday farmers market. Old Fourth Ward Farmers Market opened on June 6 in the Southern Dairies parking lot next to 4th & Swift on North Avenue. According to Atlanta Magazine, the market was founded by Dozie Ike, a livestock farmer and managing director with Regionally Right farm collective in Bartow County. Brews With a View
