Diner set to open soon
Barring further delays, Diner, the new '50s-style breakfast, lunch and dinner restaurant from "angry chef" Ron Eyester, is set to open next week at the corner of Market and 19th streets in Atlantic Station. It was originally scheduled to open in July 2014, then pushed back several more times during a period when Eyester was secretly taping "Top Chef: Boston." Pallookaville coming to L5P
"Pallookaville Junior," a spinoff of Pallookaville Fine Foods, Jim Stacy's Avondale Estates corndogs and more restaurant, is coming to Little Five Points soon, according to Decatur Metro. "Building the 'Take Out Only' spot," Stacy recently reported on the Pallookaville Facebook page, along with photos of a former hair salon space at 1107 Euclid Ave. where demolition is underway to make way for the restaurant. Atlanta Dairies retail and dining
Curbed Atlanta reports that Paces Properties, the team behind Krog Street Market, has plans to turn the old Atlanta Dairies complex on Memorial Drive into a retail and dining destination. The 11-acre site at the edge of Reynoldstown, near Cabbagetown and Grant Park, will become a $125 million mixed-use property with office and residential spaces and an "Americana and entertainment focus" that includes live music and a 24-hour diner. pacesproperties.com.
James Beard semifinalists
Last week, the James Beard Foundation announced the Restaurant and Chef Award semifinalists for 2015, including a number of Atlanta people and places in multiple categories. Among them: Lusca for Best New Restaurant; Bacchanalia for Outstanding Restaurant; Billy Allin of Cakes & Ale, Kevin Gillespie of Gunshow, Todd Ginsberg of the General Muir, and Steven Satterfield of Miller Union for Best Chef: Southeast.
