Let's say college football isn't your cup of tea —or glass of wine.
Instead of bemoaning, find a way to celebrate with separation
Here are just seven of the many lovely places to imbibe in the Atlanta area while avoiding college football altogether:
CinéBistro® Town Brookhaven
1004 Town Blvd., Brookhaven. 404-333-0740
Watch the latest movies, also known as comedy or drama that doesn't involve kick returns. Sup on a chef-designed menu of American bistro fare and sip .
Enjoy Atlanta's most innovative movie and dining experience, $10 or so cocktails like ginger peach whiskey punch or watermelon mojitos.
RA Sushi Bar and Japanese Restaurant
1080 Peachtree St., Atlanta. 404-267-0114
Ra Sushi has happy hours with select sushi and appetizers from $3.49-$8.99, even on football Saturdays. And don't forget the sake, in pure or cocktail form. Who's winning now?
Condesa Coffee Old Fourth Ward
480 John Wesley Dobbs Ave. Suite 100, Atlanta.
404-524-5054
Overdue for a friend date full of great conversation? Head to Condesa Coffee any time Saturday 8 a.m.-9 p.m. for top of the line coffee and tea. And as the afternoon wears on, consider one of their craft cocktails. Some are made with coffee, all are tasty.
Brick Store Pub
125 E. Court Square, Decatur. 404-687-0990
It's probably not a coincidence that this bar is a favorite with Emory students. You know, the college that doesn't have a football team? It's a great place to quaff a few and eat amazing pub food like sausage and grits or Brunswick stew. And you can talk with your other football-shy friends, since there are no televisions or loud music to compete with.
Eddie's Attic
515 N McDonough St. Ste B, Decatur. 404-377-4976
Downtown Decatur is also home to the intimate Eddie's. Settle in with original music and maybe a signature sandwich like cajun mahi mahi. Or wade into some wicked wings or nachos and chase it with a frosty brew. Bar foods are not just for football fans, after all.
Cork and Canvas
122 Norcross St., Roswell. 770-687-4251
If the college teams are playing late, Cork and Canvas is an option. At 7 p.m. most Saturdays, C & C hosts a painting class where you BYOW and take home a masterpiece. It's a pleasant walk from historic Roswell and costs $35 per person. They provide all the painting supplies.
Mercier Orchards hard cider tasting
8660 Blue Ridge Drive, Blue Ridge. 800-361-7731
If you'd like to get away from it all, not just the television, try a short drive to Blue Ridge's Mercier Orchards. You can eat a delicious country lunch from the deli and sample their orchard-made hard ciders, $5 glass. Grumpy Granny, anyone? You'll be extra-popular with the viewers back home if you buy some hard cider to take back, too. They close at 6 p.m.
