The first month of summer has arrived. It’s time to celebrate the upcoming vacations and shenanigans that the season will bring.

Atlanta Food & Wine Festival

Enjoy tastings, cooking and grilling classes, and learn new techniques at this year’s Atlanta Food & Wine Festival. Held in Midtown Atlanta, the festival kicks off June 1 and ends June 4.

Dave Chappelle

Atlanta comedy fans will have several opportunities to see Dave Chappelle live this month. The comedian announced that he will perform 12 shows at The Tabernacle. Tickets are still available for some of the shows.

Atlanta Moon Ride

This neon-lit cycling event kicks off with a party in Piedmont Park. Dress up in your favorite costume and ride your bike through the streets of downtown Atlanta for the 5th annual Atlanta Moon Ride.

100 percent of proceeds from the event will go to Bert’s Big Adventure.

Duluth Arts Fest

The inaugural Duluth Arts Festival will feature nearly 90 artists, live entertainment and more this month on the Duluth Town Green.

‘Summer in the City’

Families who don’t have time to leave metro Atlanta and head to the beach are in luck. The Decatur Business Association is bringing the sand to downtown Decatur with “Summer in the City.”

Enjoy live music and other performances such as stilt walking and fire twirling, while indulging in funnel cakes and other carnival-style food. Beer will be available from Three Taverns for adults.

Six Flags turns 50

Six Flags Over Georgia will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a daylong birthday bash. Kick off the festivities by celebrating the opening of Coaster Candy, an approximately 4,000-square-foot specialty and gourmet candy shop within the park, at 9:30 a.m.

At 10:15 a.m., watch as June 16, 2017, is declared “Six Flags Over Georgia Day” in the state of Georgia. Additional giveaways and special celebratory activities will take place throughout the day.

Luba Lukova: Designing Justice 

Museum of Design Atlanta’s (MODA) summer exhibit will take a look at artist Luba Lukova’s poster art. Lukova’s work has been praised for its simplicity and commentary on social injustices.
