Whether you're looking to get into the holiday spirit, or catch a rare glimpse at the First Folios of Shakespeare, there are plenty of things to do this week in and near metro Atlanta.

Here are our five picks for the week:

Pink Pig

A ride on Macy’s Pink Pig is a holiday tradition for many families in metro Atlanta. Visit the attraction at Lenox Mall on Election Day before the holiday crowds arrive. A ride through the life-sized storybook is $3. If your child is a huge fan, multiple rides can be purchased at a discount (2 for $5.50 or 3 for $7.50).

The ride first made its debut at Rich’s in 1953.

The Pink Pig is open from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on weekdays.

Cirque Dreams Holidaze

The Fox Theatre will host a holiday-themed critically acclaimed variety show this week. Cirque Dreams Holidaze will feature more than 300 costumes and 30 international artists. The production will include original music, popular holiday themes and characters, and more.

Thanksgiving buffet at Lake Lanier

Lake Lanier still has a few time slots remaining if you’re looking for a place to eat on Thanksgiving Day. Make a reservation as soon as possible if you’re looking to avoid cooking this year. From mustard and peppercorn crusted ham to potato crusted grouper, the holiday menu is sure to satisfy even your pickiest family member.

St. Regis’ Gingerbread House Unveiling

The St. Regis staff will unveil a large gingerbread house, constructed by the hotel’s pastry team, in the hotel lobby on Thanksgiving Day.

Visit the St. Regis at 6 p.m. on Nov. 24 to watch the unveiling during the hotel’s annual tree lighting ceremony.

First Folios 

Catch a rare glimpse of one of the First Folios of Shakespeare at the Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory University. The folio, the first collected edition of Shakespeare’s plays, is the centerpiece of a major exhibition that runs through Dec. 11.
