Comedian Sarah Silverman took to Facebook on Wednesday to tell falls about a recent and terrifying brush with death.

Last week Silverman after she contracted epiglottitis, an inflammation of the epiglottis that prohibits air from making its way to the lungs and can lead to respiratory failure.

In the post the 45-year-old comedian, who spent five days in the intensive care unit as a result of the health scare, thanked her doctors, family, friends and boyfriend, actor Michael Sheen.

As made evident towards the end of her update, Silverman was still able to keep her amazing sense of humor following the incident.
