The cast and crew of CW's "Vampire Diaries" got a supernatural chill during recent filming at the Gaither Plantation in Covington. Actress Nina Dobrev, who plays Elena and Katherine, said a piano started playing on its own and lights went on and off, totally freaking everyone out. "The [assistant directors] started screaming, 'Stop! Whoever that is, stop the music. We're rolling. Cameras are on,'" Dobrev told The Associated Press, recalling when piano music interfered with a shoot. But when the crew investigated, the piano was sitting in a room by itself. At another point, lights flickered while she was in the bathroom. At first she thought her colleagues were just pulling pranks but once again, no one else was around. And "nobody could pinpoint" why everyone felt so spooked while they were there, she said. By the way, "Vampire Diaries" has just been renewed for a third season. That's no surprise, as it is CW's top-rated program. The show has studios in Decatur and also has filmed elsewhere, such as Noon restaurant in Midtown, along with the occasional haunted mansion.

Quirky show creators answer questions, sort of

The Atlanta-based creators of Adult Swim's longest-running show channeled their inner Charlie Sheen during an interview to discuss "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" with us the other day. Their show will be known as "Aqua Unit Patrol Force 1" when it returns at 11:45 p.m. Sunday with its four main characters – Frylock, Master Shake, Meatwad and Carl – having moved from New Jersey to Seattle. "We're reintroducing America to what made them buy a TV in the first place," Dave Willis said, tossing out the first of a slew of non sequiturs. "We don't know anything about Seattle except it rains," the equally inscrutable Matt Maiellaro added. The animated show, you may recall, briefly alarmed Boston in 2007 when people thought its guerrilla ads were terrorist bombs. "We feel we can open up and talk about it," Maiellaro said. "Without getting in trouble," Willis added. Then they changed the subject.
