Remember the Minnie Driver sightings we told you about a couple of months ago? She was here in March shooting a pilot for CBS called "Hail Mary," in which she played a savvy suburban mom who solved crimes with the help of a streetwise pal. Well, we may never know how that all worked out. It's looking like the show, which filmed some scenes at The Georgian Terrace and in East Atlanta, hasn't caught on. At least she got to take in the live production of "Peter Pan" while she was here. In other too-bad news, "Partners," a pilot shot here for ABC around the same time, has met a similar fate. That show, a cop drama that was to star Annie Wersching, did a good bit of filming by the King Plow Arts Center but wasn't picked up, either. Ah, well.
Trump's party band to entertain on July 4
Party on the Moon, a local outfit whose past gigs have included playing for Donald Trump's New Year's Eve party, will entertain once again at this year's July 4 celebration at Lenox Square. The band was also among the acts that performed at President Barack Obama's inauguration. We're guessing The Donald had them on speed dial when he was still toying with a presidential bid. Independence Day festivities start at 10 a.m., musical entertainment, including the Jimmy Buffett tribute band A1A, starts at 6 p.m. and the fireworks start about 9:40 p.m. or whenever it gets good and dark.
