You never know who will show up when the Ron Clark Academy holds its annual graduation event. Last year, benefactress extraordinaire Oprah Winfrey, who stroked a $1.5 million check in December 2009 to the private southwest Atlanta school, made a surprise appearance. This year's event, held Thursday at Georgia Tech's Ferst Center for the Arts, lacked the O but still boasted some notables including Atlanta rap star and actor Bow Wow; rapper Nelly, who sang "Just a Dream"; and Fantasia, who sang "I Believe."
Overscene
Justin Bieber isn't merely the hottest teen star in the universe. He's also a romantic guy. He and gal pal Selena Gomez, in town promote her new movie, "Monte Carlo," dined Wednesday night at Chops Lobster Bar in Buckhead. The Biebs had candles and pink rose petals scattered on the table. Awwww.
Act fast! Supplies are limited!
Want to make a few bucks as a movie extra with almost no effort? Sorry if that sounds like a late-night infomercial but this is for real. Bill Marinella Casting needs hundreds of newer cars for a huge scene to be shot Monday night into Tuesday morning. It's going to be raining in the scene so your wheels will get wet but you don't even have to be there. Marinella put it this way: "Make money while you sleep!" The pay is $64 for eight hours of your time, plus $25 for the use of your ride. This will happen at a "secret" location, which we hear is a mall in the area. When we know for sure, you will too. (Keep an eye on blogs.ajc.com/the-buzz). They also aren't publicly announcing which movie this is for, but it's a pretty big deal. If you are interested email a photo of your ride to atlantacarcall@gmail.com and describe the year, make, model and color. They can't use white cars but everything else is fine.
