ROSWELL

Drum Circle at Chattahoochee Nature Center

You don’t need to be drenched in patchouli or have a collection of Grateful Dead stickers on your car to experience this exercise in percussion. The new monthly event invites guests to drum underneath the celestial canopy of the great outdoors. Grab your favorite percussive tool, be it a djembe, a set of bongos or some other rhythmic instrument. All ages and skill levels are invited to bring the beat. Those who would simply enjoy watching and getting lost in the groove are welcome, too.

8 p.m. June 22. $5 suggested donation. Chattahoochee Nature Center, 9135 Willeo Road, Roswell. 770-992-2055, www.chattnaturecenter.org.

WOODSTOCK

“The Little Mermaid” at Woodstock City Center

Today’s younger generation may be more aware of the Disney version of Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Little Mermaid.” Here’s a chance for the kids or grandkids to go under the sea in a different way. The musical tells the tale of a mermaid with an amazing set of pipes, who trades her voice for a shot at a handsome prince. Will she regret giving up her fins for a pair of legs? The show runs an hour and 45 minutes, including an intermission. Guests who bring a can of soup, stew or chili to donate to Papa’s Pantry score a complimentary drink during intermission.

2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays; 10 a.m. Wednesdays through June 27. $9-$11. Woodstock City Center, 8534 Main St., Woodstock. 678-494-4251, www.elmstreetarts.org/the-little-mermaid.
