NORCROSS

Moby Dick at Thrasher Park

The City of Norcross continues its free summer concert series with Moby Dick, a party rock cover band primarily specializing in tubular tunes from the '80s. They'll flirt with "Jessie's Girl" one minute and "Pour Some Sugar on Me" the next. Yet, the group doesn't simply stay in the decade of parachute pants and bangle bracelets. Don't be surprised to hear a little Zeppelin, some '60s soul or a bit of Big & Rich thrown in the mix. Guests are welcome to bring their own food, drink, blankets and lawn chairs. Some choose to grab a to-go meal from one of the surrounding restaurants. When you're preparing your picnic, pack a few extra canned goods. The event doubles as a canned food drive, which benefits Norcross Co-op Ministries. All donations go to its food pantry.

7:30 p.m. Aug. 3. Free. Thrasher Park, 100 Park Drive, Norcross. 678-421-2025, www.norcrossga.net.

WOODSTOCK

"Mirror, Mirror" at Hobgood Park

Grab a free flick outdoors, courtesy of the B at the Movies series. These events take place throughout the summer at various locations. This time, Hobgood Park is the host spot featuring pre-movie festivities and free prizes before the sun goes down. Once dusk hits "Mirror, Mirror," one of the more recent retellings of Snow White, hits the inflatable big screen. Feel free to bring lawn chairs and blankets, and sprawl out while watching the film. Vendors will be selling concessions until halfway through the movie. Organizers say picnic baskets and coolers are allowed, but please leave alcohol at home. Radio station B98.5 and grocery store chain Aldi host this 14-event series, which continues through September. The next event takes place August 11 at Riverside Park in Roswell featuring a screening of "Dr. Seuss' The Lorax."

SANDY SPRINGS

Colin Quinn at The Punchline

Stand-up fans get a shot at seeing a "Saturday Night Live" alum in the intimate confines of this longstanding comedy club. Although some may remember Quinn as host of Comedy Central's "Tough Crowd," he's perhaps best known as one of "SNL's" Weekend Update anchors. Quinn's career, however, has continued steadily since. With a jolt of sarcasm softened by his fun-loving wit, Quinn's brand of humor earned him stints on Broadway, including his 2010 one-man show, "Colin Quinn Long Story Short," which was directed by Jerry Seinfeld. Although The Punchline is a club environment, no smoking is allowed.

8 and 10 p.m. Aug. 3; 8 p.m. Aug. 4. $25. The Punchline, 280 Hilderbrand Drive, Atlanta. 404-252-5233, www.punchline.com.
