Two weeks after being elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, former Atlanta Braves pitcher Tom Glavine and his wife, Chris, turned out for the kickoff to this year's Believe Ball, benefiting Cure Childhood Cancer.
The Glavines, who were kind enough to step away from well-wishers to pose for this nice photo, will be honored for their longtime support of the charity at this year’s ball, planned for May 3 at the St. Regis. This week, they attended the fundraiser’s launch in the St. Regis’ Wine Room, where supporters were briefed on plans for this year’s event, and got to personally congratulate him for his achievements on and off the field.
"We as an organization need people who aren't personally touched in order to make an impact," said executive director Kristin Connor. "Children can't advocate for themselves. They can't hold big three-day walks. The parents are weary, they are grief-stricken. In order for us to make a difference, we need people who just care."

J-Lo in the ATL
Jennifer Lopez's kids will be super stylish this spring, thanks to the performer's stop at a Phipps Plaza children's boutique this week.
The singer-actress, who is in town filming “Lila & Eve,” popped by the Hanna Andersson shop and selected lots of cute looks for her twins, we’re told. Lopez was accompanied by two (adult) family members and was dressed casually.
Unlike Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, who turned plenty of heads when they took a spin through Phipps Plaza last month while in town for his performance at Philips Arena, J-Lo managed to get in and out without creating much of a stir.
"Lila & Eve," also starring Oscar-nominated Viola Davis, is about "two distraught mothers, whose children were gunned down in a drive-by, (who) team up to avenge their deaths after local authorities fail to take action," per the movie site imdb.com. It filmed in Midtown and the downtown Decatur area this week and will be shooting in numerous Atlanta locations over the next several weeks.
