“Geckos—Tails to Toepads” at Fernbank Museum of Natural History
If all you know about geckos is due to a certain animated spokes-creature, Fernbank has more to offer. This traveling exhibit, which opens this weekend, allows guests to take a close look at live geckos. Nearly 100 geckos represent more than 18 species from across the world. Live plants, rocks, waterfalls and more help replicate the geckos’ natural habitats, making them feel right at home.

American Blues Fest at Vines Mansion and Gardens
Jam and blues music fans can spin dance outdoors among the lush surroundings of Vines Mansion and Gardens. Audiences get a spoonful of Randall Bramblett, the Yonrico Scott Band, the Mike Delaney Project and infamous local legend Col. Bruce Hampton. The acts groove throughout the afternoon and into the evening. Adults lap up libations in the beer garden, while kids get giddy in a play area. Parking is free. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.

Memorial Day at Turner Field
Turner Field is chock full of action on Memorial Day. Before the Braves and Phillies cross bats, the Silver Wings Parachute Team from Fort Benning will be delivering the first pitch. Don’t be surprised to see jets fly over the stadium. And after the Braves hopefully chalk up a win, the iconic Beach Boys perform a gratis concert to signal the summer. Christening the season with America’s pastime and live versions of “California Girls” and “Good Vibrations” makes all the sense in the world. Gates open at 10:30 a.m. so fans get make the most out of game day.
