St. Patrick’s Day 2017: See Rock City’s waterfall go green

You're not seeing things. The iconic 100-foot waterfall at Rock City is going green for St. Patrick's Day. It's all part of the Shamrock City festival going on for the next two weekends at the attraction atop Lookout Mountain in the North Georgia.

“See Rock City.”

Or be greener than a waterfall with envy.

Yes, really. The North Georgia mountaintop attraction with the impossible-to-miss (or forget) roadside advertising slogan is really pulling out all the stops for the St. Patrick's Day season.

Its signature 100-foot waterfall is going green.

Not green as in environmental. Green as in the color of the water. It’s all part of the 10th annual Shamrock City celebration taking place at the 14-acre spread of unique rock formations and gardens located atop Lookout Mountain.

“This Irish festival features everything green, from the water to the fudge,” Rock City says about the event, which will also feature a Pot of Gold Pavilion with live sheep, a Blarney Stone Climbing Wall, Irish music and food like mulligan stew, corned beef and cabbage, green kettle corn and -- what else would you expect? -- limeade.

Shamrock City is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. the weekends of March 11-12 and March 18-19. It’ll cost you some, uh, greenbacks (sorry): Admission is $22.95 for adults and $12.95 for children. Rock City is located at 1400 Patten Rd., Lookout Mountain.
