The look of pure joy on this child’s face was enough to convince us that the Atlanta Ice Cream Festival, and a few other events in July, can’t be missed.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race

This is the 48th year of Atlanta's famous 10k, drawing thousands of participants, volunteers and spectators to the city. The course for the race on July 4 runs from Buckhead to Piedmont Park, with wheelchair racers starting at 6:43 a.m. and the main start at 7:30 a.m. in waves of racers. 4th of July Celebration at Centennial Olympic Park

Centennial Olympic Park and Lenox Square mall will join forces this year to host a fireworks show at the downtown park. Translation: This year’s Fourth of July event is sure to be massive. Grammy Award-winning R&B singer Bobby Brown will headline the festivities. Earlier this year, Lenox Square announced plans to give a “generous donation” toward the park’s annual fireworks show.

The fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9:45 p.m. Go to the website to see which items you’re allowed to bring.

Atlanta Ice Cream Festival

Don’t feel bad for indulging in as much ice cream as humanely possible at the 7th annual Atlanta Ice Cream Festival.
