This is the 48th year of Atlanta’s famous 10k, drawing thousands of participants, volunteers and spectators to the city. The course for the race on July 4 runs from Buckhead to Piedmont Park, with wheelchair racers starting at 6:43 a.m. and the main start at 7:30 a.m. in waves of racers. Centennial Olympic Park and Lenox Square mall will join forces this year to host a fireworks show at the downtown park. Translation: This year’s Fourth of July event is sure to be massive. Grammy Award-winning R&B singer Bobby Brown will headline the festivities. Earlier this year, Lenox Square announced plans to give a “generous donation” toward the park’s annual fireworks show.

Don’t feel bad for indulging in as much ice cream as humanely possible at the 7th annual Atlanta Ice Cream Festival. The day-long event features Free Health Screenings and several activities that will help you burn off some calories, including jumping rope and tossing Frisbees with your fellow ice cream lovers.
