"Slow Exposures" leaves its imprint on Pike County

Small Georgia town stages big-deal photo exhibit.

Chris Curry is the director of the "Slow Exposures" photography exhibition in the Pike County town of Concord. Proceeds from the fast-growing show will help restore this circa-1870 whiskey bonding barn in nearby Molena.

Curry started the show in 2003 with a group of friends. Fifty artists from 10 states are participating this year.

The R.F. Strickland building in Concord hosts this year's "Slow Exposures" exhibition. In its heyday, the building housed a general store, funeral home and bank under one roof.

Brenda Fayard, director of photography for "Slow Exposures," and Elise Anderson of the Pike Historic Preservation Board hang photographs for the show.

Fans at the front door of the exhibit promote the beauty of landscape photography.

This year's show includes 77 photographs by amateurs and professionals, with a special section on west-central Georgia. This photograph is called simply "James."
