A very different type of "art experience" is going to be unveiled at Mall of Georgia on May 14 by teamLab, a Japanese company specializing in digital art.

The interactive art exhibition is called “teamLab Future Park” and will run through July 31. Unlike traditional art galleries, this digital installation invites visitors to engage with the artworks - and be part of it. It’s an immersive experience incorporating the use of light, sound, video, digital sequences and virtual-reality environments. The result: an artsy, digital playground.

In the “Sketch Aquarium,” children explore the magic beneath the waves in a digitally-rendered aquatic world. This immersive experience allows guests to create drawings of sea creatures and watch them come to life in a virtual ocean.

Ticket prices: $8-$12 (free for children 2 and under). Hours from May 14 – May 27 are: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday – Thursday; 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Friday – Saturday; 12 p.m.- 6 p.m. Sunday. (TeamLab will open from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 15 due to a private event)

Hours change slightly starting on May 28. Go to simon.com/mallofgeorgia for specific hours and more information.
