Timelessly risqué and provocative, Roundabout Theatre Company's rendition of "Cabaret" will come to Atlanta's Fox Theatre from Nov. 1-6.

This year marks the Roundabout Theatre Company’s 50th anniversary season, and “Cabaret” is part of its anniversary lineup.

“Cabaret” tells the tale of Sally Bowles, an American singer and dancer working at the seedy Kit Kat cabaret in Germany in between the two world wars. Provocative musical numbers, sexual affairs and conflicts with Nazis propel the play’s plot from there.

The original “Cabaret” premiered on Broadway in 1966 and won eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Roundabout Theatre Company reintroduced the stage play in 1998 and won four Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical.

These showings of “Cabaret” will feature the original Broadway direction of Sam Mendes, known for directing the movies “Skyfall” and “American Beauty,” and original co-direction and choreography of Rob Marshall, known for directing “Into the Woods” and “Chicago.”
