Atlanta arts leaders honored by Gov. Deal

Atlanta artists, including dancer/choreographer Lee Harper; founding director of the Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund Lisa Cremin; Paula Peace, founding pianist of the Atlanta Chamber Players; and visual artist and educator Larry Walker, were honored Wednesday by Governor Nathan Deal.

The Governor's Awards, announced Wednesday, "recognize outstanding individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to Georgia's civic and cultural vitality." The awards were presented in partnership with the Georgia Council for the Arts and Georgia Humanities.

It is the fifth annual presentation of the award.

Twelve recipients were chosen from nominations from around the state.
