ASO ready for Encore Park grand opening

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra held its first rehearsal on Friday at the new Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Encore Park near Alpharetta, Ga. The amphitheatre will be a regular venue for the ASO, which performs on Saturday at the grand opening.

Spano and the orchestra are undeterred by hanging wires, ladders, boxes of folding chairs and hydraulic lifts at the not-quite-finished venue.

Getting a feel for the new stage and acoustics is pianist Peter Marshall.

Some chairs were still packed away and workmen continued their labor on the new amphitheatre at Encore Park in Alpharetta as the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra rehearsed.

Most of the essential pieces are expected to be in place by the time the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra peforms for Saturday's official grand opening of the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park.
