Anubis statue in place for King Tut exhibit

A 25-foot statue of the Egypt god Anubis has been erected in Midtown Atlanta to watch over the King Tut exhibit coming to the civic center.

Wallace (left) and rigger Roger Fain guide the five ton, 25-foot tall statue, which is being installed for the U.S. premiere of "Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharoahs."

Anubis also served as the protector of King Tut's treasures at exhibits in Vienna and London.

Fain helps secure the statue at the 12th and Midtown mixed-use development.

The King Tut exhibit runs Nov. 15 to May 22 at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center.

The exhibit will feature more than 50 treasures from Tutankhamun's tomb and more than 70 items representing other pharaohs.
