The star of the "Fast & Furious" franchise died in a car crash in the middle of filming "Fast & Furious 7" in Atlanta. Filming on the movie has been put on hold indefinitely.

Actor Cory Monteith died in a hotel room in Canada on July 13, 2013, right before a new season of the show "Glee" was set to film. Producers had to decide how to handle the storyline for Monteith's character, Finn.

Heath Ledger died in 2008 after a drug overdose, about a third of the way through filming on "The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus." Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law took over the role and the movie was released later that year.

George Reeves died of a gunshot wound in 1959 before starting filming on a new season of "The Adventures of Superman."

Michael Conrad (front, bottom left, shown with his co-stars) died of urethral cancer in 1983 during the fourth season of "Hill Street Blues." His character was written off the show.

Freddie Prinze died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in 1977 while filming "Chico And The Man." His character on the show moved to Mexico, and the show continued on for one season after his death.

Natalie Wood died in a controversial boating accident in 1981 before completing work on "Brainstorm." The movie was released to little fanfare.

Actor Jerry Orbach died of prostate cancer in 2004 after appearing in only two episodes of "Law & Order: Trial by Jury."

Marilyn Monroe died of a drug overdose in 1962 before she could finish filming on "Something's Got to Give." The movie was never finished.

Nancy Marchand died of lung cancer in 2000 while starring as Tony Soprano's mother on "The Sopranos." Her character's death was written into the show.

Oliver Reed died of a heart attack in a bar in 1999 before completing work on the Russell Crowe film "Gladiator." Special effects were used to recreate Reed's face in the final few scenes of the movie.

Brandon Lee was killed in 1993 in an accidental shooting on the set of his first feature film, "The Crow." The movie was still released, with a stunt double and special effects being used for the last few scenes Lee had yet to complete.

John Spencer died of a heart attack in 2005 while starring on "The West Wing." His character on the show also died of a heart attack.

John Ritter (shown with son Jason and co-star Katey Sagal) collapsed on the set of "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter" in 2003 and died of a heart attack later that night. The show, retitled "8 Simple Rules," continued for another season with David Spade and James Garner as replacements.

Redd Foxx (shown with co-star Della Reese) suffered a heart attack in 1991 on the set of the "The Royal Family."

Diana Hyland died in 1977 of breast cancer after appearing in only four episodes of "Eight Is Enough." Her character was written out of the show.

Jon-Erik Hexum died in 1984 after an unintentional gunshot wound to the head on the set of the television show "Cover Up." The show continued production with a new actor, but was canceled after the first season.

Bela Lugosi had a heart attack in 1956 while filming "Plan 9 from Outer Space." Director Ed Wood's chiropractor took over acting in the rest of the scenes.

Nick Colasanto (seen with "Cheers" co-stars Shelley Long and Ted Danson) died in 1985 of a heart attack while starring on "Cheers" as Coach Ernie Pantusso. Actor Woody Harrelson took over the dimbulb bartender role the next season.

John Candy died of a heart attack in 1994, the same night he finished filming his final scene in "Wagons East."

Vic Morrow was killed in an on-set accident in 1982 while filming "Twilight Zone - The Movie." The movie was still released, but did poorly at the box office.

River Phoenix died of a drug overdose in 1993 while filming the movie "Dark Blood." The film was later scrapped.

Larry Hagman died of cancer in 2012 while filming the "Dallas" reboot. His character J.R. Ewing was killed off on the show.

Phil Hartman was killed by his wife in 1998 before production began on a fifth season of "NewsRadio." His character on the show died of a heart attack. Hartman also voiced several characters on "The Simpsons," all of which were retired after his death.
