62nd Cannes Film Fest draws stars, film buffs

AROUND THAT dead time of year after the Oscars but before the summer movie fun starts, the stars decamp to the French Riviera for a little R&R, see-and-be-seen, and, oh yeah, some industry work, otherwise known as the Cannes Film Festival. Here's Penelope Cruz (who later got food poisoning) getting some love from her favorite director, Pedro Almodovar during promotion of their new movie, 'Los Abrozos Rotos' ('Broken Embraces').

AT THE Chopard-sponsored party in Cannes, Oscar winners Hilary Swank and Marion Cotillard were part of the program. They helped hand out the Trophee Chopard acting award. Meanwhile, the 62nd Cannes Film Festival runs through May 24.

JENNY MCCARTHY and Jim Carrey arrive for the 'A Christmas Carol' photo call. Yes, they're remaking it again. This one is reportedly animated; Carrey is Scrooge.
