"My dad built the home in 1970 and I remember sitting in the home when it was being framed. I was 6 years old and I was allowed to put nails in the floors," Trisha Yearwood said of her childhood in Monticello.

"The fireplace is original to the home. It is the focal point to the living room. Living in the country we had plenty of times when the power would go out and we ended up sleeping in that room. It was a godsend. Dad had a military funeral and his flag sits on the mantle. Dad loved to bird hunt and the ceramic bird dog was something that he always loved. Whenever I earned a gold or platinum album I would give one to my parents," said Yearwood.

"There was a huge pecan tree that fell in our yard. The tree was the center focus of the yard. We had the tree preserved and had this table made from that wood," recalls Yearwood.

"Everything always centered around the kitchen. My mother was a fabulous cook and we would always help her out with cooking. I was the youngest and my job was to set the table and help prepare for food so I graduated to cooking a little later," said Yearwood.

"Everything in the award case was either mine or my sister's. Everything from softball, basketball, music, typing, academic and sports awards that we were most proud of are in that case," Yearwood remarks.

"Mom and dad ran the fan club for about six years out of the basement. When you called the 'Trisha Yearwood Fan Club' you would be calling my house. My parents did everything out of there, they took requests, sent signed autographs, pretty much everything from out of the home for several years until it became too much for my parents to handle," Yearwood recalled.

"I always kept things that I wanted to save. Everything from a banner from high school to the Hawaiian leis from prom. I have a picture of Prince concert tickets and a dried up corsage. My parents just left it there when I went to college," muses Yearwood.

"I remember playing for hours on that porch. It was a great spot to play music and relax in a hammock," said Yearwood.

"We had pine trees in the first two pastures. We had farm animals and had gardens around the home. It's a pretty piece of property and just a couple of miles from the city center," said Trisha Yearwood.

Commenting on the pool addition, Yearwood said, "Built in 2004, my mom and dad were getting older and had this put in for my parents so that they could exercise. My parents got into that pool every day."

Yearwood says the pool is filled with salt water instead of chlorine, which is better for your skin. "I had it enclosed so that it could be used year round," said Trisha Yearwood.

"Dad built that barn. We stored our equipment for farming. We made our own vegetables and made our own beef . We did everything that was needed to be done on a farm," said Yearwood.

"There is a spring feed pond on the property and we would fish there as a child with my daddy and it was one of my favorite places to go," said Yearwood.
