Bill Mohr, an interior designer, took a Smyrna condo down to its bare bones. He started from scratch, creating a residence that is different from other renovated condos in the complex and reflects his style.

Mohr removed the old marble flooring, vinyl floor and carpeting as well as the vanities, toilets, tubs, kitchen cabinets and appliances. The renovations took five weeks.

Among the touches in Bill Mohr's home is a French lithograph framed and purchased from Brooks and Black at Atlanta Decorative Arts Center. The ceramic artichoke candle holders on the fireplace mantel are from Jordon Spencer and the sofa and end table by the sofa are from Duralee, both at ADAC. The two tub chairs are from Storehouse and the antique Regency chair was handed down from his family. The chair was recovered in a modern geometric pattern

Mohr and his dog, Mr. Rhett Butler, are the occupants of the home at Waterford Place in Smyrna.

Bill Mohr was up for the challenge of gutting his Smyrna condo. It was a foreclosure, so it was in rough shape, he said. This is the dining room before renovations began.

I love the great wood moldings throughout the home, Mohr said. The large windows in the dining room, with their expansive views, are also appealing. The dining room is in its own space, Mohr said, but it still feels like it is part of the living room.

I added the mirrors in the foyer because it is a small space and mirrors do the most for adding light and space.

My home office doubles as a guest room. I wanted it to be fun and not too formal for guests. I also have a lot of my movie collectibles in this room.

Stainless-steel shelves from Ikea hold a collection of martini shakers. People think of modern as cold, but it's not. I like straight lines and geometric forms, but I like a mixture of old with modern items.

The unique pieces on the table were purchased at two different shops: the Foundry on Ellsworth for the horse, and the apple vases were from Ainsworth Noah at ADAC, Mohr said. The blue painting by artist Duane Foster was a gift from Mohr's employer.

The wallpaper in the master bedroom is an arrowroot grass cloth from Phillip Jeffries Ltd. I wanted to make sure that I kept the color palette light so I painted the walls Benjamin Moore Lenox Tan and did a darker trim Benjamin Moore Greenbriar Beige.

The cabinets in Mohr's kitchen are a Shaker style installed by John Chadwick of Atlanta Custom Cabinets. They didn't have a basic Shaker style so we used a raised panel-style door and reversed it so when the door is open you actually see the raised panel, Mohr said

The shelves are stainless steel form Ikea and the artworks are vintage cocktail recipes from a book

Mohr loves old movies. When he was in art school, he cut an old coffee table book apart and framed the photos with some inexpensive black frames.
