Private Quarters: Young traditionalist style in Midtown home on tour

The classic home will be on display during the Midtown Atlanta Tour of Homes on Dec. 6.

The lines of furniture and lighting bring a sense of movement into the living room. A French marble coffee table, from Atlanta's Paris on Ponce, is on top of a cowhide rug from Rina Norwood Design. The creamy palette continues with the fireplace mantle, surround and walls. “Everything about the space visually reflects my taste of the classic past and yet it presents itself to contemporary setting,” the homeowner said.

A mirrored console from Horchow reflects the furnishings in the living room, which looks out onto the deep front porch and Midtown neighborhood. The orb chandelier is from Capital Lighting Fixture Company.

A prime entertaining space in the Midtown Atlanta home is the screened-in back porch. There's visual appeal, with vintage advertising signs including one of the homeowner's favorites - a piece from an old store.

Cromwell Baun's collection of advertising signs, many of which are vintage Coca-Cola pieces, fill the walls of the screened-in porch. The signs give the home even more character.

An antique baby grand piano is perfectly positioned in a room off the foyer of the Midtown Atlanta home. Below, there's an Oushak rug from Westside Foundry. Above is a crystal chandelier from Gallery 63.

A rosewood baby grand piano is another late 1800s find from Harris Furniture and Auction in Centre, Ala.

The home retains the 1920s grandeur through antiques, including a chandelier and baby grand piano near the front door. "When I'm entertaining or having a party or having people over, there's an entryway room where I can greet folks," homeowner Cromwell Baun said. "A lot of old homes in the neighborhood have the front door open up to the living room. It had an entire room which was an entry foyer." (Christopher Michael Oquendo/ www.ophotography.com )

Another quirky item in the Midtown Atlanta home is a 1950s cigarette machine, purchased at one of Gallery 63's auctions. Homeowner Cromwell Baun said the restored machine serves as a conversation piece and gives off a bold, masculine vibe.

The master bedroom's cozy environment is set with an upholstered bed by One Kings Lane topped with textured bedding and a plush throw. The chair is from Joss & Main.

Aged details in the guest bathroom include hardwood floors, tile floors and a clawfoot tub. Above the beadboard, the walls are painted Sherwin-Williams' Seat Salt.

The guest bedroom, which was repainted, includes one of the six fireplaces throughout the Midtown Atlanta home.

Cromwell Baun and his guests gather around a farm table dating to the late 1800s, from Lakewood 400 Antiques Market, in the dining room. The antique bench is from Rina Norwood Design. Crystals dangling from the chandelier, purchased at Scott Antiques Market and nailhead trim on the chairs add a sense of formality to the space.

A functioning cash register from the late 1800s is the focal point of a bar area in his kitchen - although drinks are on the house. Homeowner Cromwell Baun purchased the National Cash Register from Harris Furniture and Auction in Centre, Ala.

The intricate details in the 1800s National Cash Register, which is made of brass with nickel plating, appealed to homeowner Cromwell Baun. Now it's in his kitchen.

Homeowner Cromwell Baun said the kitchen is large, which he found rare when searching for older homes in Midtown Atlanta. Appliances are integrated into the kitchen, hidden behind wood panels.

A deep front porch will welcome visitors to Cromwell Baun's American classic revival-style home during the Midtown Tour of Homes on Dec. 6.

The Midtown Atlanta home's front columned porch and a dentiled cornice are among the defining elements of American classic style architecture.

Cromwell Baun, a financial advisor, purchased his Midtown Atlanta home in 2014. The three-bedroom, three-bath home and its collection of Coca-Cola memorabilia will be on the Midtown Tour of Homes (www.midtowntourofhomes.com) on Dec. 6.

Throughout the 1920s house, Cromwell Baun replaced light fixtures to keep with the period look of the home.

An early 1900s Victor Victrola, purchased at auction from Jeff Dobson & Associates, fits with the classic period theme throughout the home. The music player is functional and in great shape for its age, said homeowner Cromwell Baun. Plus, the mahogany wood is gorgeous.

A small, round mirrored end table, from Westside Foundry, is nestled in between the One Kings Lane bed and a Joss & Main armchair.

Starting with the brick and wrought iron fence, charm oozes from the curb of the 1920s American classical revival-style home in Midtown Atlanta.

In decorating his 1920s Atlanta home, Cromwell Baun brought in mid-century pieces, including a bar cabinet from The Harp Gallery in Appleton, Wis.
