Private Quarters: Traditional decor in Atlanta townhome

The 2,583 square feet, three bedrooms, one flex room, three full and two half baths townhome was built in 2010 and purchased in 2012.

The Seguro Square Coffee Table from Crate and Barrel is a rustic element amid transitional-style chairs and sofa from Beddown.com, and leather and metal furniture in the living room. The mirror is from Rooms To Go, while the blinds were a special order from The Home Depot.

By using pieces that weren't tall and bulky, Larry Brown created a living room that feels intimate while seating many guests. The molding around the fireplace fits with the townhome's traditional architecture, while the interiors are transitional.

Previously the townhome's walls were beige. Painting the walls Sweatshirt Gray, by Benjamin Moore, enabled the fireplace surround, window molding and crown molding to stand out. The fabric for the couch and chairs from Beddown.com provided a neutral foundation.

Larry Brown wanted to bring in attention-grabbing accessories, and the horse head bust, from HomeGoods, does just that. The sculpture is on the Seguro Square Coffee Table, made of Peroba wood and mahogany in natural and ebony finish, from Crate and Barrel.

A leather sofa with an attached chaise from American Signature faces the flat screen TV in the fourth floor media room. The walls are Behr's Painted Turtle, and pictures of water and farm backgrounds from magazines are framed.

The city view at night is one of the reasons Larry Brown purchased the Atlanta townhome, near the Edgewood Retail District, in 2012. The fourth floor deck is off the media room.

Cabinets and storage spaces are abundant in the kitchen and island, which open to a dining area and living room. The main floor walls are painted Benjamin Moore's Sweatshirt Gray.

The townhome's kitchen was already up to date with granite countertops, tile backsplash and dark cabinets. Larry Brown added Frigidaire and GE Appliances from Appliance Smart, and bought the bar stools from By Design.

The kitchen has a functional and stylish island for prepping, eating and displaying dinnerware and other pieces. Even with the open floor plan, Larry Brown sought to make spaces unique, such as the wall design in the dining area.

A silver vase caught Larry Brown's eye at ZGallerie, and he purchased it for his dining table, with Bassett chairs. The vase stretches to the new light fixture from The Home Depot.

During one scene of the Washington, D.C.-based show "Scandal," a paneled wall caught his attention. Brown embarked on a DIY project in his dining area, using a saw to cut trim into different sizes and frame the wall in rectangular boxes.

The townhome's bottom floor offered space for an office with walls painted Cup of Cocoa by Behr. The room fit a desk from Underpriced Furniture and a credenza from Office Depot, which has framed photos of vintage cars above.

The townhome, which has dark hardwood floors, were decorated with help from Larry Brown's sister, Gloria Williams. Three wall mirrors from ZGallerie reflect the colors and patterns of the guest room walls and bedding from Macy's. The walls are painted Eddie Bauer's Antique Blue, from Valspar.

Walls painted Gray Timber Wolf, from Benjamin-Moore, evoke a sense of calm in the master bedroom, which has a bed from Bombay and bedding from Macy's. Throughout the townhome, Larry Brown brought in framed art from HomeGoods, Z Gallerie and At Home (formerly Garden Ridge).

A custom master closet, by Closets and More, is among the $10,000 in updates that Larry Brown made after buying the Atlanta townhome in 2012. The closet opens to the tiled master bathroom.

Built in 2010, the traditional townhome didn't require renovating the bathroom, which has a large tile shower.

A glass console table serves as a bar area in the living room of the Atlanta townhome. The sculptures were a gift from a former roommate, and they keep her close to heart, said homeowner Larry Brown.

Cool blue HomeGoods napkins (in napkin rings from Amazon.com) have the appearance of a bow tie on the dining table. The square white bowls are from Target, on top of placements with nailhead trim from ZGallerie.

A white monochromatic clock was a steal, for $35 on Amazon.com.

Larry J. Brown, who works for SunTrust Bank, changed out many of the ceiling fixtures when he bought the Atlanta townhome in 2012. The metal spheres in the stairwell leading to the fourth level were finds at TJ Maxx.
