Private Quarters: Serenity in Serenbe townhome

Homeowner was drawn to what she calls Serenbe’s “city in the country” setting.

A French weathered farm table from Huff Harrington, capped by a rustic light fixture from Ballard Design, creates a distinct dining area adjacent to Nadine Bratti's large open kitchen.

In the kitchen, Nadine Bratti mixes cool white cabinetry with tones of gray and rustic ghost wood to create a contemporary farmhouse feel.

Three barbershop-style stools tucked under the kitchen's large center island are among Nadine Bratti's favorite features in her Serenbe home.

To achieve a farmhouse look, homeowner Nadine Bratti used wood beams in her kitchen, which opens to the family room. Because the ceilings are so high at 14 feet, Bratti also tied in her use of wood above the stove's vent hood.

Fourteen-foot ceilings and tall windows naturally draw the eye up in Nadine Bratti's master bedroom. With help from Abigail Cancelliere and Blair Anderson of Harlinhouse, Bratti uses a large area rug from Myers Carpet, along with colorful customized Schumacher curtains and a custom velvet mohair headboard to draw the eye back down.

Nadine Bratti's master bathroom uses a freestanding oval tub and cool neutral colors that reflect the open and clean style she likes.

Ten-year-old Ella Bratti's bedroom is her own inspirational creation. Mom Nadine Bratti agreed to let Ella design it herself, using gray tones and pops of color.

The loft bed is a fun feature in 4-year-old Axel Bratti's bedroom. The benefit of the reverse floor plan in her Serenbe townhome, she says, is that the kids have the bottom level to themselves.

A wine barrel sink is a key feature in homeowner Nadine Bratti's guest bathroom. Bratti says rustic accents help create the "townhouse meets farmhouse" feel in the Serenbe residence.

Clean, contemporary colors and rustic touches like horns in the stairwell provide a hint of what's to come in the main living area upstairs in Nadine Bratti's Serenbe home.

Metal cage hanging lights from Zentique add another rustic touch to the new townhome.

The base design of an antique black metal Tulip coffee table from Gabby doesn't hide the rug's pattern and colors in homeowner Nadine Bratti's living room.

A transitional piece is the Terrance chest is from Gabby, made of natural oak with white bone inlay creating geometric pattern (there's another one on the other side of the fireplace). The green glass lamp is by Lamp Arts. The slatted walls enhance the farmhouse-style interiors.

One of Nadine Bratti's favorite features in her home is the pantry's sliding barn door, found by Julie McKinney of McKinney & Son Builders. "She has an incredible style," says Bratti. "She was so helpful in understanding my style and being able to pull in softer textures."

Nadine Bratti loves the steel wall hanging and treehouse feel of the upstairs balcony on her townhome. Industrial railings add a contemporary feel to her home in Serenbe, south of Atlanta.

Nadine Bratti lived for years in Brooklyn, N.Y. She says the new townhomes in her Serenbe community remind her of the New York brownstone style she loves.

Former city dweller Nadine Bratti, with dog, Finn, found a "city in the country" townhome in Chattahoochee Hills' Serenbe community, south of Atlanta. She owns the General Store at Serenbe, a gourmet grocery and wine shop.

While the neutral grays throughout Nadine Bratti's Serenbe home suggest a cool contemporary feel, pieces like this aged dresser in her master bedroom inject a bit of rustic chic.
