Private Quarters: Designer’s touch for William T. Baker-designed home

William T. Baker-designed home in Atlanta has 8,000 square feet, seven bedrooms, seven-and-a-half baths

Seating on the front porch allows the family to enjoy a courtyard area in front of Jeanmarie and Alan Quarterman's Buckhead home. The courtyard space, which is framed by a stone wall topped with a hedgerow, is one of Jeanmarie's favorite outdoor features.

Jeanmarie and Alan Quarterman hired Parker Kennedy Living interior designers to update the interior of their Buckhead home. The designers repurposed and relocated furniture, art and accessories for a fresh look. "It all looked new to me," she says.

In Jeanmarie Quarterman's 8,000-square-foot Buckhead home, the whole first floor is pretty open. To unify the spaces, Parker Kennedy Living interior designers used one interior color for the open floor plan, Sherwin-Williams Dover White.

Sconces flank an original painting by Denise Carson in Jeanmarie Quarterman's living room. Jeanmarie and her husband Alan have accumulated a large art collection over the years, with some pieces from their international travels.

The antique French cabinet in Jeanmarie Quarterman's living room is one of her favorite pieces in the home. "It is so different and unique, with great design details, " she says.

A large antique rug, found at Scott Antique Market, provides a base for family-friendly furniture and injects a dose of deep blues and reds into the formal living room, painted in Sherwin-Williams Dover White.

Among homeowner Jeanmarie Quarterman's favorite features in the Buckhead home her family bought in 2011 are the interior fireplaces, found here in the formal living room and also in the family room.

In the corners of the dining room, Jeanmarie Quarterman's designer, Lance Jackson, repurposed and lacquered a pair of bedside tables taken from her master bedroom.

An unframed antique French painting hangs in the formal dining room of Jeanmarie and Alan Quarterman's English Country home in Buckhead. While it may seem unconventional, the organic elements of the unframed, slightly torn canvas contribute to the painting's appeal, says Jeanmarie.

Designer Lance Jackson, of Parker Kennedy Living Interior Designers, brought in a sofa by CR Laine with lots of browns, blacks and neutrals for Jeanmarie Quarterman's family room. Above it, he framed and hung a piece of original matchstick art in a grid pattern.

In front of the stone fireplace with its rustic mantelpiece are two custom iron stools, covered in classic Schumacher fabric to match the drapes in the family room. The fuzzy ottoman in the foreground adds softness and a touch of fun to the mostly traditional room.

An antique French mirror above the family room fireplace reflects the room's vaulted ceiling and the iron chandelier from Scott Antique Market, two features that Buckhead homeowner Jeanmarie Quarterman loves.

In the family room, an eclectic mix of old and new creates a comfortable, livable space for the family of five to gather. Against the wall, an antique chest topped by a lamp from Worlds Away complements the new sofa by CR Laine next to it.

Underneath the vintage cocktail table in Jeanmarie Quarterman's light-filled family room is a rug found at Myers Carpet on Northside Drive in Atlanta. In the background, custom Schumacher drapes add a classic touch to the wall of windows and French doors.

A farmhouse table helps transition the kitchen area to the main family living area in the Buckhead home.

Jeanmarie Quarterman's well-appointed kitchen includes a Viking stove, Dacor double oven and microwave “all stainless steel" and a farmhouse sink by Kohler. The microwave is built into the expansive center island, which is painted in an antique cream and includes storage and shelving for cookbooks and other accessories.

Leading from the kitchen to the formal living room on one side and dining area on the other is a wet bar, which is fitted with a U-Line under-counter wine cooler, bar sink and glass-faced cupboards for stemware.

Just inside the entryway of Jeanmarie and Alan Quarterman's home is a wood-paneled study. The antique English desk, purchased at Scott Antique Market, is topped by a marble lamp from Currey & Company. John Oetgen's "The Business Men" artwork adds color and interest to the formal room.

Alan and Jeanmarie Quarterman's teenagers often entertain their friends outside on the basement-level patio, complete with fire pit.

A semi-circular outdoor sectional provides a comfortable spot for Alan and Jeanmarie Quarterman to entertain or relax as they look over their wooded backyard in Buckhead.

Alan and Jeanmarie Quarterman bought their seven-bedroom, seven-and-a-half-bath Buckhead home in 2011. Parker Kennedy Living decorated the English Country home's interior, which has a "fun, funky traditional" style.

Jeanmarie Quarterman, a freelance jewelry designer, worked with Parker Kennedy Living to update the 8,000-square-foot Buckhead home she shares with husband Alan, a banker, and children Joe, 19, Emma, 18, and Ted, 17.
