Cummings Cove Golf & Country Club is located in Hendersonville, North Carolina.

Cummings Cove features a fitness center with swimming pool and hot tub and three tennis courts. "The fitness center is really nice," said Karen, "with lots of equipment and a room where we have yoga and Pilates classes. There's even a masseuse who comes in for scheduled appointments. Tim Dixon is the director of the fitness center and is available for personal training and tennis lessons. He also teaches the Pilates classes."

"The area has the most gorgeous views, especially on the golf course," says Karen. "On the 16th hole there's an almost 360 degree view of the mountains, it's just spectacular. It's so pretty at all times of the day, but especially at sunset. It almost doesn't look real, it's so incredible."

Since Cummings Cove is just 8 miles from Hendersonville, residents find it easy to enjoy dinner in town or a play at Flat Rock Playhouse, North Carolina's state theater. Lots and custom homes from golf villas to estate homes and fairway cottages are available.

The community's clubhouse offers two restaurants: the Lake Ridge Restaurant and Golfhouse Grill & Lounge. The mountain lodge design features massive wood beams and stone floor-to-ceiling fireplace. Lake Ridge's three walls of glass provide a panoramic views from its mountain ridge setting while the Grill offers a cozy spot for lunch or a drink.

When Dennis Carter retired, he and his wife Karen bought a home in Clearwater Beach as a winter retreat near family and friends. Deciding on a summer place, they considered a place in their former home state of Michigan, but once they visited friends at Cummings Cove Golf & Country Club in Hendersonville, North Carolina, they fell in love. In 2002, they bought a lot and two years later their home was complete, designed to function as a summer retreat and gathering place for family and friends.

The Carters built a home that's about 4,200 square feet with two levels and views over the 11th fairway. The home has three bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths, large laundry and sewing rooms, an office, pool table room, family room, living room, formal dining room and eat-in kitchen.

"Golf is one of the main things we do up here," says Karen Carter, and she enjoys the variety and challenges of golf in a mountainside community. "We have our own golf contests between residents on our street, and Dennis and I participate in the men's and women's golf leagues." The golf course is nestled into the Blue Ridge Mountains and each fairway has its own spectacular views and terrain.
